Lawyer Magdalena Miteva became part of the Management Board of FAR in the summer of 2019.

She has eight years of professional experience in the field of migration and refugee law and has provided legal assistance to hundreds of refugees, migrants and stateless persons. She joined FAR in November 2015 as a volunteering intern, which is when her love for human rights, refugee and immigration law was born. In the years after, she was the youth coordinator of the PROMISE Refugee group. Magdalena takes part in the implementation of numerous projects of FAR with her expertise as a lawyer. Currently, she is the Senior Editor and Digital Engagement Officer of the interactive platform Refugeelight.bg. and its Request Assistance module, designed to assure access to online professional legal aid for migrants and refugees.

In 2018, she interned at the Pardons Committee of the Bulgarian Presidency. In November 2018, she graduated from the Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski and obtained a Master's degree in Law. 

In September 2019, Magdalena took part in a summer school on the topic of Human Rights in Theory and Practice, organized by the Department of Law in the Leipzig University, Germany. In October 2020 she finished the Advanced ELENA Course: Asylum in Europe: ensuring protection and fundamental rights compliance of the European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE).

In May 2020, Magdalena joined the Sofia Bar Association and is currently a practicing migration and refugee lawyer. 

In 2022-2023 she completed a 5-month traineeship at the European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA).

She is an alumna member of the European Law Students Association (ELSA) in Bulgaria.
