On September 26 and 27, 2025, the Foundation for Access to Rights – FAR took part in the “Democratic Mosaic” festival, which transformed Slaveykov Square in Sofia into a stage for civil society. The event was organized by the Bulgarian Center for Not-for-Profit Law in partnership with the Civil Participation Forum and the National Youth Forum, and brought together more than 50 civil organizations presenting inspiring discussions, workshops, and interactive activities.
On the first day of the event, passers-by had the chance to meet at our stand with colleagues from our team with refugee backgrounds – inspiring individuals who shared their journey to a new home in Bulgaria and how today they extend a helping hand to others in similar situations. FAR’s lawyers spoke about our daily mission – protecting the rights and ensuring access to justice for vulnerable groups. We also introduced visitors to our online platforms refugeelight.bg and migrantlife.bg, which provide reliable and accessible information on rights, services, and employment.
A particularly moving moment was our participation in the game “Civic Bingo.” On our tree-shaped board, visitors placed colorful notes answering the question “What is home for you?” The tree quickly filled with words, dreams, and memories. Together we created a mural showing that home is much more than a place – it is belonging, connection, and security.

The second day brought us meetings full of inspiration in the Small Talks: “Inspiring Stories of the Power of Good.”
Attorney Valeri Petkov from FAR joined a discussion on the topic “How Does Bulgarian Law Awaken?” and presented the foundation’s work, which defends access to rights, protects vulnerable groups, and guides people toward appropriate services. He also explained how FAR, as a labor mediator, helps refugees and migrants enter the labor market, creating opportunities for their successful integration and a new beginning.
“Democracy is alive when people participate.” This was the message FAR brought to “Democratic Mosaic 2025.” And we believe that everyone can find their own way to contribute – through a small gesture, a kind word, or active support for the community.
